The Xcerts have recently returned to the UK from America where they have been recording the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2009 debut album In The Cold Wind We Smile.

The new album, as yet un-named, will be released later in the year and is produced by Mike Sapone (Brand New, Public Enemy, Crime in Stereo) from his home studio in Long Island and mastered by Emily Lazar, whose recent credits include this years chart topping album Contra by Vampire Weekend.

The first single to be taken from the new album is Slackerpop, which is released on Xtra Mile Recordings on June 7th.

The Xcerts second album shows an angrier side to the band’s music which harks back to the early days of 90’s Grunge. It has a brilliantly sinister, dirty and earthy quality without turning its back on the pop-sensibilities and catchy melodies that the band captured so well with their debut.

The Xcerts will be hitting the road again in May to support the new single, they will be kicking off the UK tour with an appearance at the special Xtra Mile Night at The Great EscapeĀ  on May 13th at Fortune Of War in Brighton.

They will follow with a headlining Xtra Mile High Club Tour, where they will be ably supported by record label stable mates Crazy Arm, Straight Lines and Fighting Fiction.
