ME1 – a festival of music in one day across Rochester, Kent including PiL, The Wedding Present, Vic Godard & the Subway Sect + local music & venues.
Saturday 28th July sees the launch of Music Event One, an exciting new music event to be held in the spectacular grounds of Rochester Castle & various local music venues. Music Event One will this year be headlined by post-punk pioneers Public Image Ltd.
PiL with their enigmatic lead singer, John Lydon top a main stage line up that mixes iconic artists with new and up and coming talent, all enclosed by the historic castle walls, in the gaze of it’s magnificent Keep. Joining PiL are Leeds heroes of alternative music The Wedding Present, Medway psyche-pop favourites Theatre Royal and hotly tipped alternative hip-hop act Kids Unique.
As well as main stage in the castle grounds (5pm –10:30pm) there is a free fringe event throughout venues in Rochester High Street running from 12-5pm and an after show at The Royal Function Rooms (10:30pm-2am) headlined by Vic Godard and The Subway sect, also featuring local post-rock noise makers UpCDownC and Dartford’s Dead Lovers.
Tickets are just £26 for a wristband, which gains entry to both the main stage at Rochester Castle and The Royal Function Rooms Stage. Alternatively people can enjoy the free fringe events in the day or pay £7 on a first come first served basis for a limited number of tickets available for Vic Godard and The Subway Sect at The Royal Function Rooms.
There is also an accompanying selection of free downloads from artists featuring in the fringe event available on the event website and facebook page. These artists include Stuart Turner and The Flat Earth Society, Bear vs Manero, Maker, Balance Lost, Broken Banjo, The Wildes, The Pantomime Villains, Pedalo Fred, Cry Baby Special and The Monsters, Last Days Of Disco and Pete J Weller.
