Radiohead are to release their seventh studio album, and first for 4 years. The new album is titled In Rainbows and will be available to download on 10 October. With the release of albums such as Kid A and Amnesiac, Radiohead have become renowned for thinking outside the box and merging many different influences and styles, including electronica experimentalism into their music. Some avid rock fans fell by the way side, while others enjoyed the ride, never quite knowing what to expect next.
Well, this time its the release itself that’s getting the headlines as Radiohead embark on another solo journey into the unknown by asking people to decide how much they want to pay for their new album. Orders began to be taken yesterday, with customers able to decide how much to pay – from nothing (plus a 45p administration charge) upwards. There is a twist. You can pre-order the download at any price or pay £40 for a “discbox”, which includes two CDs, two records, plus artwork and booklets.
