‘Meet Me at the Muster Station’ the stunning debut album from PS I Love You

PS I Love You
PS I Love You

They make a bit of an odd couple but the Kingston Ontario based duo PS I Love You sure know how to kick out an incredible noise as you can hear in the video ‘Get Over‘ shown below, an incredible taster from their debut album Meet Me At The Muster Station which is released on April 26th.

The ten track album is a relentless listen that grips and pulls the listener through just under thirty-minutes of squalling Marshall feedback, searing solos, soaring melodies and rock-steady beats that will surely be considered one of this year’s finest debuts.

Originally the solo project for multi-instrumentalist Paul Saulnier who has performed in everything from a country-rock band to an improvised noise duo, PS I Love You was intended to be his experimental, pop music outlet using guitar looping pedals, keyboards with some gadgets and gimmicks. The addition of Benjamin Nelson on drums suddenly transformed the bands little songs into mini, soaring rock anthems.

On the album’s release in North America last year Meet Me At The Muster Station drew critical praise from the likes of Pitchfork, Village Voice, NME, Eye, Exclaim, Now, Toronto Star, The Fly, Gigwise, LA Weekly, SF Weekly, Portland Mercury, San Diego City Beat, The Stranger, Washington Post, Brooklyn Vegan, Consequence of Sound, PopMatters, Pop Tarts Suck Toasted,  CMJ, Prefix, Treble, and KCRW.

Exclaim called it the number four album of 2010 and added;

“It’s hard to believe that the stunning Meet Me at the Muster Station is PS I Love You’s debut. Arriving fully formed, this Kingston duo delivers its catchy hooks with brute force, pummelling listeners with fuzzy guitars and thundering rhythms. And even if you won’t be able to sing along with frontman Paul Saulnier’s strangled yelps, songs like “Facelove” and “2012” will be stuck in your head for weeks. Savage noise freak-outs have never sounded quite so palatable.”

Rock Sound Magazine, who have gone on record as saying thet LA hardcore band letlive. are the most exciting band around, put their money where their mouth is on Monday February 28th, when the will host the band live at the Old Blue Last in London where the band will headline this month’s Rock Sound DC Secret Session.

In the words of a very excited Rock Sound spokesperson:

“There aren’t many bands who’ve rocketed into our world like letlive., and ever since the first tribal thumping of their stunning album ‘Fake History'(which is about to be re-released on Epitaph) slammed around RS Towers we knew we’d found a band worth caring about in a big way. So this is a pretty massive deal: a band who are practically guaranteed to explode playing their first ever headline show in a pocket-sized venue, and a real ‘I was there’ moment in the making.

It’s held on Monday February 28 at the Old Blue Last in London (doors at 8pm), and tickets are £3. What’s more, they’re only available on the door – yup, you can’t buy tickets for this in advance, so please get there early.

It’s going to be very, very busy and we want to get as many people in as possible before Health And Safety lose their shit.

All proceeds are going to Shelter (the homeless charity, not the band) so you can feel good about yourself while getting sweaty. It’s 18+ only, so if you’re under 18 we’re sorry but you’ll probably outlive us old bastards anyway.

Support comes from The James Cleaver Quintet and Hearts Under Fire.”

letlive. are currently touring the country with Your Demise and will release an expanded edition of their album ‘Fake History’ through Epitaph Records on 11th April.

Proclaimed as the ‘most exciting in the world today’ by UK Rock Sound Magazine, Los Angeles hardcore rockers letlive are currently on the UK leg of a European Tour with Your Demise and Stick To Your Guns. The tour started last night in Southampton and will finish in London at Underworld on 27th February.

The heavy rock outfit have also announced the release of their album Fake History through Epitaph Records on April 11th and have recently posted their kinetic high energy track The Sick, Sick 6.8 Billion on video.

letlive – The Sick, Sick 6.8 Billion

letlive have joined the renowned Los Angeles punk rock label Epitaph to release their third studio album Fake History and vocalist Jason Aalon Butler enthused;

“When thinking of Epitaph Records I affix Bad Religion, Atmosphere, and the reawakening of the late great Refused to those thoughts (an impressively unorthodox composition in my eyes). Now I think of letlive. to be included amongst that lineage. Pipe dreams realized, ladies and gentlemen.”

The band has been building a reputation for themselves in the Los Angeles hardcore scene. With their eclectic arsenal of influences, letlive take heavy music to new heights with dynamic songwriting, blistering and precise rhythms, hook loaded metal riffs and Butler’s remarkable ability to balance cathartic screams and melodic vocals. Commenting on his band’s sound, Butler says they are “a punk rock band with a soul band’s modus operandi. Vice versa.”

Fake History exudes a youthful swagger and power. The album’s opener, Le Prologue, begins with tribal drums that give way to an outburst of thundering riffs and defiant vocals with front-man Butler exclaiming “There are no martyrs in resolution. If you remain still, don’t expect restitution. Stand up!”.  The band’s most notable gift lies is in their songwriting with tracks like The Sick, Sick, 6.8 Billion, Renegade ’86, Casino Columbus and Muther, which strikes a pitch perfect balance of sonic aggression and unforgettable melodic choruses.

Epitaph’s release of Fake History will include three brand new tracks Hollywood, And She Did, Lemon Party and the Brett Gurewitz (president & founder of Epitaph, guitarist for Bad Religion) produced track This Mime [A Sex Symbol].
