Pulp, Robyn, Paul Kalkbrenner and The Streets confirmed to play Melt! Festival 2011

Melt! Festival 2011

Melt! Festival is back for it’s 14th year in 2011. Many of the finest acts in indie and electronic & pop music will take to the stage against the stunning backdrop of Ferropolis – one of the most unique and truly beautiful festival locations in Europe.

Located just over an hour from Berlin, this is the ideal festival destination for those wishing to sample some of Berlin’s well-documented nightlife and culture in addition to catching some of their favourite bands and DJs.

In the recent European Festival Awards, Melt! 2010 won the Artist’s Favourite European Festival award.

Pulp are due to play thier one and only gig in Germany in 2011 at this year’s Melt! Festival. And if that wasn’t a good enough reason for Pulp fans to travel all the way to Berlin, it has been announced they will play a greatest hits set, only.

Since Jarvis Cocker and his band mates split in 2002, many fans have been waiting for this moment. After many discussions, vague promises, vigorous denial from the band, we can finally stop worrying. The boys and girls from Sheffield are about to conquer Melt! Festival’s main stage in their original line-up: Nick Banks, Jarvis Cocker, Candida Dayle, Steve Mackey, Russell Senior and Mark Webber. From “Common People” to “This Is Harcore”, the band will perform a best of set that will definitely make your summer. Pulp is only playing a few festivals this summer. This exclusive German show is a one-off deal that you don’t want to miss this year.

Last year, hit machine Robyn’s been busy as well producing one album after the other. The Swedish pop icon pulled an album trilogy out of the hat as if it were the easiest thing in the world. With all her new songs in tow, Robyn will conquer Ferropolis in no time.

The Swedish dance pop diva not only released one but three mini albums, Body Talk I-III. She pulled dance floor fillers like “Dancing on My Own” or “Hang With Me” out of her hat in between gigs and press conferences to successfully hold her ground in the music biz. After the peroxide blonde bundle of energy toured the globe last year, Robyn’s going to present the complete Body Talk works to the Melt! crowd. Enjoy!
Paul Kalkbrenner and Melt! Festival go well together! In 2009, he was part of the Bpitch Special. In 2010, Kalkbrenner curated Melt! Picknick, put together a formidable line-up at Melt! beach and entertained more than 5,000 fans. This year, he’s going to top it all: in 2011, Paul Kalkbrenner will play main stage for the first time to bring you “Sky and Sand.”

Melt! Music Festival 2010 in Ferropolis, Germany

Melt! Music Festival 2010
Melt! Music Festival 2010

The summer music festival season is nearly upon us, and everyday we are receiving information from the biggest music festivals right across Europe, with some amazing line-ups!

Melt! Music Festival 2010 will be held on 16th – 18th July in Ferropolis, Germany. The anticipation for the 13th Edition of Melt! grows – just like its line up, now bolstered by the news that Jónsi (singer and guitarist of Sigur Rós), Broken Bells and Groove Armada will all perform at the festival with more names still to be announced.

Sigur Rós singer and guitarist Jónsi will bring his bombastic show to the crowds at Melt! for his only music festival gig in Germany.

Other highlights include Danger Mouse producer Brian Burton and The Shins frontman James Mercer will play their first ever German show as Broken Bells. Groove Armada will also be presenting their new live show exclusively at this years’ Melt music festival.

After selling out in record time last year, Melt!was also awarded with a LEA (Live Entertainment Award) for “Best Festival”. Once again, tickets are selling out fast for this years event so we advise buying tickets for Melt’s wonderland Ferropolis very soon to avoid disappointment.

Jónsi
Iceland’s forces of nature are unpredictable apparently, as is the music that originates on the rough rock formation. Who would have though that Jon “Jónsi” Birgisson, singer and guitarist of Sigur Rós, was gifted with a true pop attitude? Yet Jónsi announces his debut “Go” with full force. All melancholic sound walls were put aside and the shy frontman Jónsi reached for a little more cheerful instrumentation. Now the album is full of whistles, chirps, hammering and tunes that will make your day. Simply wonderful.

Broken Bells
At first glance, producer and DJ Brian Burton a.k.a. Danger Mouse and Shins singer and guitarist James Mercer might not seem like a perfect couple of mates. However, when they first met somewhere in Denmark, they musically bonded in an instant. A music session was arranged. Its result, a self-titled debut, is available in record stores since March 2010. The album is a mix of relaxed pop music with soul influences, playful organ sounds and a strong leaning towards experimentation. What else do you need on a sunny Melt! day.

Groove Armada
British Groove Armada are back with their new release “Black Lights”. Strangely enough, the album doesn’t have anything to do with black lights at all. Rather it’s a colourful kaleidoscope of pop: romantic messages are loudly chanted (“Paper Romance“), 1980’s dark wave features mix with true disco tunes (“History”), and rock songs (“Look Me In the Eye Sister“) meet soft synth waves.
