ATP‘s second music festival weekend for December 2011 at Butlins, Minehead is the Nightmare Before Christmas – this year curated by three of the most stunning live acts on the planet – Battles, Caribou and Les Savy Fav. As previously announced each band will headline and choose a line-up of 14 artists for one day of the festival. Today we can confirm the second set of additions –

As recently announced ATP Concerts are very excited to present the return of Neutral Milk Hotel’s Jeff Mangum to headline and curate our first of two festival weekends this December at Butlins Minehead. Today we can confirm the second stunning group of artists picked by Jeff:

ELEPHANT 6 HOLIDAY SURPRISE
After releasing one of the most criticially acclaimed albums of 2009 with their self titled debut (The Guardian called it “a landmark in American music, an instant classic”), Fleet Foxes return this year with a new album Helplessness Blues, out May 2nd on Bella Union. This will be their debut performance at All Tomorrow’s Parties.
The Elephant 6 Holiday Surprise is a performance from 11+ musicians connected to the Elephant 6 record label (home to Neutral Milk Hotel) performing in various configurations (sometimes everyone on stage at once), swapping instruments and playing each other’s songs as well as screening short films. For this event the group will be made up of Will Cullen Hart, Bill Doss, Peter Erchick, John Fernandes, Julian Koster, Scott Spillane, Andrew Rieger, Laura Carter, Derek Almstead, Bryan Poole, Robbie Cucchiaro and others, playing the music of Elf Power, Circulatory System, The Gerbils, The Music Tapes, The Sunshine Fix , Major Organ and Adding Machine, Pipes You See, Pipes You Don’t , The Late BP Helium, plus “fun & games & surprise covers.”

The renowned Animal Collective will curate the only All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival weekend of May 2011 at Butlins Minehead, England. The band have climbed into the hot seat where they will play twice, and have chosen from amongst their collaborators and influences to bring together one of the most diverse and culturally important mixtures of live music ATP has seen in recent times.
The event features an array of acclaimed acts including Big Boi of Outkast, Beach House, Terry Riley, Gang Gang Dance, Kurt Vile, Meat Puppets, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti and The Frogs and many more.
ATP Mix Tape
To celebrate the stunning line-up, ATP release a free 2 hour MP3 Mix Tape featuring music from many of the artists picked by Animal Collective which is now available to download from the ATP website.
ATP Pop Quiz
ATP are also excited to announce a special Pop Quiz Competition on Facebook in which three lucky teams can win 4 Tickets + Accommodation at the festival!
Two prizes for those with superior music knowledge and one prize for those coming up with the best team name. Entrants should email email@example.com before this Friday 25th March with Pop Quiz in the subject line to register a team name. At 1.30pm on that day, ATP will put the first 5 questions up, one every five minutes as different consecutive posts on the ATP Facebook Page.
Another 5 questions will follow at 1.30pm on Monday 28th, another 5 at 1.30pm on Wednesday 30th and the final 5 on Friday 1st March at 1.30pm. Each question will be about a different artist on the line-up – with some answers to be found on the line-up bio pages on our site and others to be found elsewhere online!
Teams will take part by commenting on the Facebook question posts with their team name and answer. The first three teams to get the correct answer earn a point! The two winning teams will be those who get the most points over the 20 questions. There will also be a prize picked by ATP for best team name – that team will also win 4 Tickets + Accommodation.
